Wee Wonders

Remember when I wrote about oak galls here and here?

Well, it's oak gall season again and I've been foraging and gathering. Which means I'm carefully picking up the galls that have dropped onto the driveway from the Valley oak tree.

I've been gathering the Spined Turban and Red Coned galls. They're easy to spot because of their pink color and unusual shapes. The challenge is to get to them before they're crushed, eaten, or blown off the driveway by the wind.

At the moment I have no purpose for them.

They just seem kind of wonderful.
