Good Sign

 

Pretty Good

We received 0.73 inches of rain yesterday. I know it doesn't seem like much but since it hasn't rained for a couple of months it felt really good.

This morning it looked pretty good too.

First Rain

 So dramatic: thunder, lightning, double rainbows, and rain. Love it all.

 

Double Batch

 A breezy drizzly day with a little clearing in the afternoon to spotlight a brief rainbow.

 

 

 

Mostly a good day to spend indoors and bake Oatmeal Raisin cookies (with chocolate chips and walnuts).

Stranger Still

 

Strange Weather

Yesterday on the Local News they reported sightings and pics of funnel clouds.

Today a friend texted:  Did you see there’s a tornado warning for our area?  Very strange!

I asked The Man where we would shelter if there was a tornado.

We haven't come up with anything, yet.

Windstrewn

Amazing that we didn't lose power yesterday and thankfully no downed trees. We were spared in large part due to last year's major tree trimming.

Still lots of leaves, twigs, and branches strewn about.

 

 

The clean up crew is already on task.

 

Howling

The winds are howling: 43+ mph gusts so far, less than 1/2 inch of rain.

It looks like multiple power outages around SLO county and Santa Barbara county. Our lights are on for now. But the leaves are whipping by the windows and twigs are hitting the house.

The sun finally made an appearance today.

The Lendrum and I spent the afternoon soaking up the sunshine.

A little bit of rain but a lot of gray skies today.

In the afternoon the animals and I sought out the small patches of sunlight.

 

 

First Rain

We woke to rain this morning and the showers have been on and off throughout the day. So far we've gotten an inch of rain.

Boots and Jack keeping dry.

 

 

Cleaning out a clogged gutter - successfully - I might add.

 

Rainy day meal: Fresh ramen noodles with broccoli, mushrooms, and kale. Manapua and leftover seafood.

 

 

Reheating leftovers the easy way.

 

Bright and fresh when the rain stops.

Storm Prep

Rain is back in the forecast for the next few days. Unfortunately strong gusty winds are also expected.

The deck canopy had to come back down.

 

 

 

 

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

I wish I had known that in October 2021.

 

Sloggers

Another stormy day.

The goats are hanging out under the canopy next to the barn. This is where we feed them forage hay if it's raining. They won't weed whack in wet weather.

 

 

 In contrast, my Sloggers (baby goats!) rain boots has been holding up extremely well.

We woke up to gray skies, gusty winds, and sprinkles.

A bigger storm is expected on Tuesday into Wednesday.

 

 

 

Howling Wind

It's hard to concentrate on anything, the wind is just too noisy. When it squeezes into the house (screeching) we know it's blowing greater than 50 mph.

 

Not sure if the Weather Station rain gauge is working, the amount hasn't changed. Could it be because the rain is being blown sideways and missing the collection container?

The power went off for 30 minutes and then came back on. Lucky that.

 

Again and Again

We are in for it again. Sheesh.

It's not funny anymore. I hope the Owners of these poor goaties have given them better shelter.
