I have resubscribed to Into the Whirled monthly fiber club subscription and will soon receive November's fiber. I can't wait.
I first subscribed to the Club in 2022 and though I loved the fiber I received, I cancelled after three months when I realized that I - frankly - did not know what I was doing. I did not know how to manage color or spin anything other than pin-drafted natural undyed fiber.
Well. Things have changed and not only did I learn how to manage the luscious fiber, I also learned several different ways to manage and manipulate color. More about that later....
But for now here is ~ June 2022 "Dramatic Pause" 100% wool. Sheep breed: Texel.
Four ounces of fiber out of the bag.
My first "fractal" spun yarn. Since I didn't know how to manage the thick "braid" the yarn I spun turned out squishy and bulky.
A few months ago the 2-ply yarn finally told me what it wanted to be. I used "Dramatic Pause" to knit a variety of leaves as part of a Woodland-themed garland.
In addition to the knitted leaves, I felted acorns (with real caps), knitted a wee owl, and strung them all onto a 3-foot hemp cord. I called it "Fall Foliage Garland".
The two garlands I made for the annual Central Coast Weavers Guild sale sold on the first day of the sale.
The fiber, the yarn, the color, the texture, it's all so amazing to work with. Oh, yes, there will be more garlands in my future. And hopefully many months of ITW club fiber shipments.
