It was a beautiful day in Morro Bay. Too nice of a day to see a scary accident.
The Man and I watched a Super Yacht stop mid-channel and swing their stern to the shore. As they drifted closer to the docks their exhaust turned black as they "gave it the gas". We could hear a woman on the back deck yelling because instead of moving forward they were reversing full-speed into the docks. We stood stunned at the spectacle and the crunching we could hear.
A few feet away the people on the boat rental dock quickly made their way to shore.
The Man notified the Harbor Patrol there was a boat that needed help. Two patrol boats showed up and helped the Super Yacht tie up safely at Tideland Park.
The Morro Bay City Dock was smashed to smithereens, the crunching sound we heard.
The situation could have been much worse. No one was injured and no boats were damaged. The yacht's port railing was pushed forward but otherwise it looked fine.
