yarn: (1) a continuous strand of twisted fibers used in weaving or knitting, (2) a narrative of adventures.
I guess it's that time of year again. Time to awaken the hibernating, ahem, neglected sourdough starter slumbering in the back of the fridge.
According to my notes it's last feeding was in December. Yup, almost a year ago.
Let's see if I will be forgiven this time.
A sunny day. It felt good to be outside and enjoy an hour (or two) of sitting, knitting, and catching up on textile-related podcasts.
The lovely MsChiz on Ravelry is (sadly) selling her collection of Bosworth Spindles.
I am the lucky new owner of three of her Bossies and a beautiful carded batt she made and gifted.
Rain is expected for the next few days. The morning dawned with clouds and a brisk breeze.
I held the fluttering pages down in my daily notebook in order to get a few things written but it did not take long before the cold wind drove me inside.
The Guild Sale weekend came to a close today. It was fun, busy, and everyone had a great time.
Today I brought a variety of spindles and fiber and taught folks how to spin.
I taught one gal to spin on a spindle three years ago and she comes back every year. She said she continues to spin and has knitted a hat with her spindle-spun yarn. Today she taught one of her friends how to spin. Very cool, right?
Tomorrow I will need to straighten the house and corral all my fiber, tools, yarn, and bits and bobs that have taken over downstairs and every horizontal surface.
When my fiber, tools, and yarns are stored away I can give The Man the "all clear" and he can come home from Ventura where he has been hiding out.
First Day 1 - 6 pm
Thirty minutes before the doors opened to the public (there was already a line forming outside). A quick walk-through to snap a few pics before I headed upstairs to set up the Lendrum spinning wheel.
The CCW Guild Sale starts on Friday, November 7th.
I spent Sunday and Monday helping with the inventory Check-In. It was fun to see the amazing and wonderful items the Guild creates.
Tuesday was spent setting up the tables, displays, racks, and shelving. (Next Tuesday we get to tear it all down and put it back into storage.) I made a Straw Bale Knitters display which will join the other Guild Showcase items.
Today I worked from home: The Guild aprons have been pressed and the tassels are attached.
I made a dozen new name tags and lanyards; just to be fancy I added sparkle.
First thing tomorrow morning I think I will bake brownies - quick and easy- then drop off the baked goods, aprons, and name tags.
I still need to get the Lendrum wheel ready to go and pick out some fiber for the three days I will be demonstrating spinning. It is almost Show Time.
Garlands are finished, finished, finished.
The Garlands have been slipped into Cellophane Envelopes - tagged and bagged - and ready for the CCW Guild Sale.
The Garlands and Ornaments are in a special bag The Man brought back from his visit to Petaluma.
