A good crop from the wee trees.
yarn: (1) a continuous strand of twisted fibers used in weaving or knitting, (2) a narrative of adventures.
The Man had been planning a journey. When I asked him where he was going he said, "North".
Although he enjoys fishing and cruising the Channel Islands he was ready for more.

He headed down to Ventura on Friday, September 5th to wait on the weather.

0615: I watched The Man and Nell leave Ventura Harbor on the Ventura Port Webcam. He said the ocean was "bumpy". Next stop Santa Barbara, eta 0915.
0918: Santa Barbara, fuel stop.
Entering Santa Barbara Channel (Surfline live Webcam).
First night anchored at Coho Anchorage. The plan is to go around Point Conception in the wee hours of the morning (between 0200-0400) when the seas and winds are calmer.
Santa Barbara Maritime Museum:
"Pt. Conception is a headland along the coast of southwestern Santa Barbara County. It is the point on the coast where the warmer waters of the Santa Barbara Channel meet the Pacific Ocean, and it forms the corner between the mostly north-south portion of the coast to the north and the east-west part of the coast near Santa Barbara. It is also a place where strong currents converge, cause dangerous turbulence in a rocky area, and make sailing so hazardous that it has been called the Cape Horn of the Pacific and the Graveyard of the Pacific. Because of the dangerous weather, wind, and water conditions, which resulted in hundreds of shipwrecks, Pt. Conception was selected in 1852 as the site of one of the first seven lighthouses to be built in California."
Received a nice big package of Regia Sock Yarn from Little Knits, my "LYS". It's my biennial Sock Yarn stock up.
The five skeins in the middle are calling to be knit first. Yes, looking at you Funky Stripes.
But instead I think the four skeins in the top row would make lovely seasonal socks.
I noticed on September 1st that both goats were passing odd poops - tiny and pointy - not their usual. Was something going on with their gut? (Hmm, corn husks was just added to their diet. Uh oh.) Boots seemed to look unusually wide and keeping her distance from Jack. I gave them Goat Probiotics paste.
On September 3rd Boots was still distended but her poops were getting larger and she was burping.
On September 5th I thought Boots had died. It was time for bed and she didn't follow Jack and me to the Pen. I looked under the deck and saw her lying on her side. I locked Jack up in the Goat House and went back to check on her.
I crawled under the deck and though she was breathing she did not get up. Her rumen was greatly distended. She let me pat and massage her which produced some burps. She still would not get up.
I spent about an hour with her until she started moving around and walking away from me. I placed a water bucket for her. I knew she wasn't budging from under the deck. Then I turned on all the lights and turned a radio on (Classic Rock station) to deter any mountain lions from getting too close to the house.
In the morning she was moving around, scratching the rocks away to lay down. She was still bloated and uncomfortable (shivering). I spent an hour patting, rubbing, and massaging coaxing many burps and the shivering eased.
Two days later she was back to foraging and laying in the sun but at their bedtime when Jack and I headed to the Goat House she went back under the deck. Still keeping her distance and not chewing cud.
September 8th, Back in the Pen, sleeping in the Goat House with Jack.
September 11th, Giant clumpy poops, aka scours, aka goat diarrhea.
September 12th, Chewing cud but squatting and no pee other than a dribble. Dehydrated?
September 13th, Peeing. Phew
September 15, Today: Peeing, pooping, burping, chewing cud, eating, drinking, and socializing. All good.
It was a beautiful day in Morro Bay. Too nice of a day to see a scary accident.
The Man and I watched a Super Yacht stop mid-channel and swing their stern to the shore. As they drifted closer to the docks their exhaust turned black as they "gave it the gas". We could hear a woman on the back deck yelling because instead of moving forward they were reversing full-speed into the docks. We stood stunned at the spectacle and the crunching we could hear.
A few feet away the people on the boat rental dock quickly made their way to shore.
The Man notified the Harbor Patrol there was a boat that needed help. Two patrol boats showed up and helped the Super Yacht tie up safely at Tideland Park.
The Morro Bay City Dock was smashed to smithereens, the crunching sound we heard.
The situation could have been much worse. No one was injured and no boats were damaged. The yacht's port railing was pushed forward but otherwise it looked fine.
I wove a couple of hours today on the Little Gem using the Charkha-spun cotton singles as weft. I was excited to finish up the current bobbin.
Now I could try something new.*
* Jonathan Bosworth Boat Shuttle for Bosworth Charkha Spindles. (Oregon Myrtlewood aka California Bay Laurel.)
This morning I finished spinning the singles on Spindle #11: Ambrosia Maple/Walnut Midi Bossie 28gm.
This afternoon I started Spindle #12: Mystery wood (Ravelry destash) Skinny Maxi 38gm. The Bosworth Maxi Spindles are an allover larger spindle: larger whorl, heavier weight, and a longer shaft. It is a great tool for plying on a spindle.
But. I am still spinning singles. Even though it is a Maxi it seems to be going well - not too heavy, and the singles are not too thick - it is very nice.
