Strawberry Sunday with Chocolate

I've been buying half a flat of strawberries just about every week. The Strawberry Man and I wave to each other as I get out of my car and walk towards him. He gives me a friendly, "Hello Mija!".  I offer him his weekly Tootsie Pop and watch his grin get wider.

The Man and I have been eating the strawberries fresh. No leftovers at the end of the week to freeze or dehydrate. It's all gone. They're eaten whole, sliced with cold or hot breakfast cereal, part of a fruit salad, sliced with a mixed green salad tossed with TJ Raspberry Salad Dressing, or halved and sprinkled with feta cheese. It's all good.

And then there's strawberries drizzled with Ghiradelli chocolate:

Here's an easy-peasy way to melt chocolate: Microwave in a little bowl at medium power (50%) for 1 minute, stir until smooth. Heat at additional 15 second intervals until smooth. Make sure no water is added and don't overheat. Lick the spoon.

Another trick with strawberries is you want to keep them dry, refrigerated, in a plastic container with a lid, and wash them only before you use them. This keeps them fresh and delays the soft spots. Don't forget to leave a note that the yummy fruit is unwashed, thataway you don't walk into the kitchen to find an unsuspecting family member snacking on straight-from-the-field fruit only to stop mid-chew upon seeing your horrified expression. Just saying.

Hope Y'all have a Happy Mother's Day!
